Sheffield BIPP network?
Having just become a qualified member, I wonder if BIPP members in and around Sheffield have any interest in networking together? So I've emailed 18 local colleagues listed on the BIPP website and invite you to post comments here if you think there's value in building something locally. Skill sharing? Passing on work? Car-sharing to regional meetings at Selby? Any other ideas?

Hi David,
It might well be a good idea having a Sheffield spin off group. Personally, I have never made it to one of YRBIPP meetings partly as they are so far away but also because I am not sure how relevant some of the topics discussed at the meetings are to me.
A more locally based group might work for me. To discuss opportunities, problems, etc. It really depends upon how we might support one another, as I am sure we will all come from a variety of disciplines. Perhaps an informal get together might get the ball rolling.

I'm trying to make a decision, about whether or not to continue with the BIPP.
It seems to have lost its authority and kudos - and now appears to be all about 'social, 'girlie' and something called 'boudoir' photography.
Not really my thing !

Thanks, Fran and Laurance, for your comments. I also got emails from two other colleagues. Andrew Chapman thought local networking sounded a good idea as he never gets to distant meetings apart from Focus. Anthony Naylor said he'd be interested in car-sharing to a Selby meeting as he's generally too busy to find the time or inclination to make that trip alone. So I wonder if anyone's interested in travelling together to the 21st January meeting?
This is a return visit by Dave Wall who was well received on a previous occasion. He'll be demo-ing a table top still life shoot and taking the resulting images into Photoshop. Steve Howdle says the Photoshop techniques will be transferable to all types of photography.
Meeting starts at 7.30; maybe best to get there early enough for a bite beforehand? Satnav journey time from Sheffield around 1 hr 15 (these are usually optimistic I find). Which would suggest leaving around 6 pm?
